A little close for comfort

How long into the new administration’s nazism until the average German recognized something was wrong?

  • Hyperinflation? Check.
  • Suppression of free speech? Check.
  • Half the citizens ignoring speech suppression because the speech being suppressed ‘should be’ anyway? Check.
  • Demonization and arrest of Jews for operating businesses and failure to wear their mark? Check.
  • Party opposite the one their own being demonized as ‘domestic threat’? Check.
  • Bombs dropped in the name of peace? Check.
  • Blatant propaganda? Check.
  • Major corporations producing experimental chemicals used on its citizens? Check.
  • Majority of population moralizing alongside their favored party? Check.
  • House arrest and citizens self-enforcing policy by violence unchecked by the state? Check.
  • Citizens fleeing party dominated cities? Check.
  • Rationalized detainment camps for the ‘safety’ of others, Check.
  • Racial superiority and racial defamatory statements by famous writers? Check.
  • A red herring skirmish at the capital radically amplified and politicized, justifying its militarization? Check.
  • Sitting congressmen calling for lists to be made? Check.
  • Policy generated to monitor its citizens labeled as threat to Party? Check.

How much more do you need?

They did not know, but no doubt it was happening.

I only ask that we consider that we do not know, and that we too would have been quiet while terrible change was afoot, out of disbelief that it could happen here. Out of ‘yeah right, you idiot, this is politically motivated drivel.’ You still can’t consider it can you? That’s it, working.

Totalitarianism creeps, it does not revolt.
It seduces well before it leans its shoulder.
It moralizes.
It catches contagion.
It uses instinctual fear of germs and the unclean.

We unknowingly and with the words of Justice, Safety, and Equity on our lips check the boxes of the Party’s morals.

Hail Harris.
