Green is not the color

Yellow it was in our day, its arms outstretched

And the brave ones climbed its bowed limbs

Rusty and a bit jagged, our thighs streaked and caught her shiny metal to slow us down–just a little burn, nevermind it…

The big kids loomed in the lookout. Who knows what they conspired up there

Climb the sides instead of the stairs! Who has time for that? To the TOP!

Today she’s painted some hideous green and fake rubber pellets beneath her screaming “safety.” Demanding it. But that’s not her nature.

Robbing danger and stealing courage from babes–danger, that was the good part. How could you?!

Please paint her yellow again. It’s what we remember, and there are so few memories of those days.

No, green is not the color.
