after your name

Call him after your name, this barefoot prophet born to you;

In every encouragement of little feet to stomp new ground,
the self-same call to courage—trod forth the father in you.

In every loving utterance, let love be your own command—Love high and mighty.

Do you mean for him to stand firm? Peel prideful shoulders back—from strength to strength with this cub.

May he trod the path of his father—may he fulfill his name as he sees it before him:
Courage—Love—Strength

And let it be you who is called to account each time he hears it.

Unto the highest place with this son, and higher still with you. He trods your ground, as sure as he will one day sow you to it.

Call him after your name. Call him "Gabriel."
